We have a winner!

I hope you had a good weekend. I got some chores done, went housing hunting and even caught up with the amazing Su from My Perfume Diaries when she came down for a quick trip to Melbourne and tried some jasmine flavoured gelato (must try) on Lygon st together.  But as always, weekends are too short and it's back to the working routine tomorrow.

If you're also dreading and suffering early monday-itis, I have good news for one of you that will hopefully soften the impact. I've just drawn out the winner of the Chanel, Gucci, Smashbox prize tonight from all the valid entries.

This week, the lucky winner to this wonderful prize goes to:

EmilyQuak

Congratulations Emily - please get in touch with me (lilpil@gmail.com) within the next 2 days (or I'll have to redraw another lucky winner) and I'll sort out how to get the prize out to you.

To everyone else - I have another giveaway this week packed full of goodies, so you will have another chance to win again soon!

Harajuku Lovers: Super G

My last dose of Harajuku lovers was with the limited edition G of the Sea a few months back. Now G must have been hanging around Captain America and his comic-book super hero friends recently because she comes flying back in a Super hero costume herself.

This time her creator is Perfumer Christelle Laprade and she joins the rest of the Harajuku Girls perfume collection by Gwen Stefani and represents the super kawaii side to show that pretty can come with a powerful and flirty punch.
Decked out in a pop-art inspired blue polka-dot lycra wear, she dons on a red and white striped belt with a Super G logo, eye mask with a red cape flowing from her back.

When we first met, I immediately felt the vibrant (overwhelming for some) energy in her with the sparkling pineapple cocktail with hints of citrus tangerine and banana.

It reminds me of a delicious tropical pineapple banana smoothie on a long hot day, flirtatiously beckoning to the young at heart to join in on the fun of the evening party. Some might even say Super G would taste like a hummingbird cake if you were to have a bite of her in this gourmand edition.

And as the party goes on, she continues to display vibrancy with more banana (banana haters stay clear – you have been warned) and yellow freesia notes before easing into solid base of sweet vanilla, raspberry and warm musk notes.

Super G lasts a good 4 hours on my skin and is a scent that would be welcomed by gourmand scent lovers all over!

Super G is limited edition so get her quick before she flies out again.

30ml RRP A$49 in Myer, David Jones, Perfume Connection and selected pharmacies nationally from 4th September 2011.

Review: Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector

Hyper-pigmentation has recently been an issue with me. I’m not sure whether it’s caused by hormonal imbalances, inadvertent sun exposure or some other external aggravators but I’m finding more tiny pigmentation marks appearing around the eye area this year. That is why I’m always on the lookout for products that promises to address pigmentation and even out skintone.

Having won Marie Claire's 2011 Prix De'Excellence International Award and garnering high praises everywhere else, I was very curious to try Clinique's re-formulated 'damage eraser'.

Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector - 30ml
  • Contains patent pending CL-302 complex which combines 5 ingredients to address pigmentation: Dianella Ensifolia, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Blackout Yeast Extract which addresses pigmentation by gently brightening skin and glucosamine and Salicylic Acid to normalise skin pigmentation over production and to help soften skin and increase cell turnover.  Other star ingredients which also tackle pigmentations are Acetyl glucosamine and grapefruit extract, another skin brightener to deliver a powerful anti-pigmentation punch.
  • Is a light milky fluid with a pleasant scent, it absorbs easily and leaves no visible sheen or grease. You hardly realise it was there if not for skin being so much smoother and softer to the touch afterwards.
  • Performs well with fading scar marks – my blemish marks from hormonal outbreaks were gone in 1 week when they normally take 3 or 4 weeks to fade on its own.
  • Works equally well to prevent further darkening of freckles, sun spots or pigmentation. It really stops those marks on its tracks.
  • Lightens existing pigmentations - after 4 weeks of daily use, the newly formed pigmentations are lighter and barely visible and are invisible under light makeup. The older pigmentation spots are slightly lighter, but I haven’t notice a big difference to say WOW yet. Skintone is definitely brighter and more even throughout .
  • Treated early, this serum will definitely lighten and fade pigmentation spot and dark marks till they are barely visible. Whilst it won’t completely erase the older dark pigmentation marks, they do become lighter.
In a nutshell:
This is now my go-to daily serum for hydration with the added surety that it's slowly helping to fade my existing pigmentation. I highly recommend this serum if you have pigmentation concerns and want to gently fade without irritations to skin that other more aggressive products may cause.
